Correction lenses for viewfinder eyepiece

For the viewfinder eyepieces of Konica SLR camera bodies, diopter correction lenses are available to provide a sharp view of the viewfinder image for near-sighted or far-sighted persons without glasses.

The correction lenses with positive diopter value are for compensation of far-sightedness (hyperopic), the ones with negative diopter value for compensation of near-sightedness (myopic).

I do not have any information, if such correction lenses were available for the viewfinder eyepieces of early internal link F bayonet bodies.

The round correction lenses called down Eyesight Correction Lens AR and down Eyesight Correction Lens AR with Eye Cup fit into the round viewfinder eyepieces of early bodies with AR bayonet, from Auto-Reflex on to Autoreflex T3N. They can also be used on the rectangular viewfinder eyepieces of later bodies by means of the internal link Eyepiece Converter AR adapter.

The rectangular correction lenses called down Diopter Correction Lens 2 AR can only be used on the rectangular viewfinder eyepieces of the later bodies from Autoreflex TC up to TC-X.

Eyesight Correction Lens AR

There are screw-in correction lenses for the round viewfinder eyepiece of the earlier internal link AR bayonet bodies from Auto-Reflex up to Auto-Reflex T3N. These are named Eyesight Correction Lens AR. They are simply being screwed into the eyepiece thread of the viewfinder eyepiece instead of the existing proctection glass. They can be used on later cameras with rectangular viewfinder eyepiece by means of the internal link Eyepiece Converter AR adapter.

The earlier Eyesight Correction Lens AR consisted only of the respective correction lens with a holder ring. They can be distinguished from the normal protection glasses by the diopter correction factor being printed in white onto the holder ring.

Well into the time of internal link Autoreflex T2 these correction lenses were offered in the following strenghts:

+3 +2 +1 -2,5

During the time of the Autoreflex T2, Konica introduced more strengths in negative values for better compensation of myopic eyes. From then on, the correction lenses were available in the strengths:

+3 +2 +1 -1 -2 -3

Eyesight Correction Lens AR with Eye Cup

At the time of the internal link Autoreflex T3 and Autoreflex T3N, the correction lenses were offered with a – detachable – rubber eye cup. These were hence named Eyesight Correction Lens AR with Eye Cup. Just like the earlier version without eye cup, they are simply being screwed into the eyepiece thread of the viewfinder eyepiece instead of the existing proctection glass. They can be used on later cameras with rectangular viewfinder eyepiece by means of the internal link Eyepiece Converter AR adapter.

These correction lenses were still made in the strengths of +3 +2 +1 -1 -2 -3 and the holder rings are marked with a white print showing the strength in diopters.

Diopter Correction Lens 2 AR

For the rectangular viewfinder eyepieces of the later Konica SLR bodies from internal link Autoreflex TC on, there are also correction lenses available. These are called Diopter Correction Lens 2 AR. Available strenghts still are +3 +2 +1 -1 -2 -3. These can not be attached to the round viewfinder eyepieces of earlier bodies.

The Diopter Correction Lens 2 AR was supplied with a frame, which could directly be slided onto the camera's viewfinder eyepiece. The correction lens itself can be separated from the outer frame and can be put into a matching internal link Eye Cup 2 AR, which is available as a separate accessory. The eye cup is not part of the Diopter Correction Lens 2 AR.
